It does several things for you that will make your experience more successful. Wedging has three main benefits. First it removes air bubbles from the clay. If you leave air bubbles in your clay then there is a high chance you project will blow up in the kiln. Second it creates a uniform consistency in the clay so it is easier to work with. Lastly, it helps us find and remove trapped objects.
