During second quarter you will have 4 assignments to complete along with the work
that is required to be done in your visual journal. The four required projects are:   

1) Pattern                                       
2) Emphasis                                  
3) Balance                                     
     4) Movement                                   

Below are some examples of selected imagery that can hopefully give you an idea of what is possible with each project.

1) Pattern

A repeated decoration or design

2) Emphasis

Special importance, value, or prominence given to something. This can be accomplished through decoration, form, or sculpture

3) Balance

The distribution of weight a ceramic demonstrates. This weight can be literal or visual. It can be accomplished by manipulating form or through the creation of designs

4) Movement

Creating the illusion that your work is moving or could potentially move. This can be accomplished by manipulating form or through decorative carvings and designs
