"The vision of the artist is infinite; it is interminable and unconquerable; it survives and flourishes regardless of war, religion, or apathy. This visual legacy outlasts governments, vandals, and the societies which produced them. The product of the artists vision is the true historian. It will be all that remains when the dust and ruins are scraped away.."

Welcome to AP Art History!
The Advanced Placement Art History course is designed to assist students in developing an in-depth understanding of individual works of art from diverse cultures and the relationships among these works. It is also intended to increase students’ critical analysis and in-depth learning within the discipline of art history. Students study a limited number of works of art, which form a holistic group representing global artistic traditions, and the accompanying fundamental information that places these works in context.
This course is designed around 250 specific artists. We will discuss the works of these artists and their contemporaries to examine why they are important to our history. The works addressed in class will span a wide range of cultures and social issues. Many of the paintings and sculptures contain nude figures. This is a challenging college level class. Attendance is very important. Students will be expected to take notes and actively participate every day
